Using a local PDF editor in your browser

A “local” PDF editor runs in your browser instead of on a remote server. Your files stay on your device, which is why no upload and no account are needed.

PDFPrivy is a set of focused, browser-local tools rather than one giant editor. This guide shows what you can do locally and where the honest limits are.

Steps

  1. Decide what you need: annotate and mark up, reorganize pages, convert, or clean metadata.
  2. For markup, open Edit PDF to add text, shapes, highlights, arrows, and cover boxes on top of a page.
  3. For page changes, use the organize, merge, split, rotate, or crop tools.
  4. Run the tool and download the result — each tool works on your device.
  5. Combine tools as needed; for example, edit a page, then compress the file.

Your files stay in your browser

Every tool is processed locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers and no account is required.

Working locally means you can edit confidential documents without sending them to a third party.

When to use this tool

  • You want to mark up or restructure a PDF without uploading it.
  • You prefer a small set of focused tools over a heavy desktop application.
  • Privacy matters and you want the file to stay on your device.

Limitations and honest caveats

  • Edit PDF is experimental and adds content on top of the page — it does not directly edit existing PDF text.
  • Cover boxes are visual only and are not secure redaction; underlying content may remain in the file.
  • Browser editing is bounded by your device’s memory, so very large files can be slower.
