How to merge PDF files locally in your browser
Merging PDFs means joining several documents into a single file — handy for combining a cover letter with a résumé, stitching scanned chapters together, or bundling receipts for an expense report.
With PDFPrivy the whole merge happens inside your browser tab. Your files are read into memory on your own device and never sent to a server, so you can combine sensitive documents without handing them to a third party.
Steps
- Open the Merge PDF tool.
- Drag your PDF files into the drop zone, or click to browse and select them.
- Reorder the files by dragging until they are in the sequence you want.
- Click Merge to combine them into one document.
- Download the merged PDF to your device.
Your files stay in your browser
Your files are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers, and no account is required.
Because the work happens on your machine, the speed depends on your device and the size of the files — large documents use your own memory rather than a remote server.
When to use this tool
- You want to combine two or more PDFs into a single file.
- The documents are sensitive (contracts, IDs, financial records) and you would rather not upload them anywhere.
- You need a quick merge without installing desktop software or creating an account.
Limitations and honest caveats
- Merging keeps each page as-is; it does not re-flow text or shrink the combined file. To reduce size afterwards, see the compress guide.
- Very large documents are limited by your device’s available memory, since nothing is offloaded to a server.
- Page order is whatever you arrange before merging — double-check the sequence before downloading.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my files uploaded when I merge them?
- No. The merge runs locally in your browser and your files are not uploaded to our servers.
- Do I need an account to merge PDFs?
- No account is required. Open the tool and start combining files right away.
- Can I reorder the files before merging?
- Yes. Drag the files into the order you want before clicking Merge.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Each file can be up to 200 MB. Processing also depends on your device’s available memory; large or complex files may exceed its resources. Files are not uploaded.
